David Albert Farmer, Ph.D.
Dr. Farmer is a cautious patriot, suspicious of civil religion, especially reconstructionism, and all other encroachments on separation of synagogue/church/mosque and state. He embraces the true Baptist tradition, which holds soul competency and religious liberty as essentials; there are few true Baptists remaining in the world, especially in Baptist churches.
Farmer is a retired pastor and seminary preaching professor. He earned a Ph.D. in Homiletics from Southern Seminary in 1984. He is an author and editor who has been interested in and inspired throughout his career by preaching from the periphery--sermons preached while the preachers experiencing societal and typically ecclesiastical exclusion, diminishment, and professional abuse, i.e., victims of racism, gender discrimination, and homophobia.
